What are DIY lash extensions / cluster lashes?
DIY lash extensions are pre-made lash clusters you apply yourself, directly onto your natural lash line, with a bond adhesive. Instead of a lash tech attaching hundreds of individual extensions over two hours, you place a handful of clusters in about 15 minutes and get a comparable full set.
Lash clusters are small, pre-made fans of 8–15 lash fibers bonded at a single knot, with no strip band running along the back. Because there is no band, cluster lashes sit flush with your lash line and read as your own lashes in photos — no shiny black strip, no lifted outer corner, no obvious falsie edge.
DIY lash extensions vs salon lash extensions
Salon extensions are glued lash-by-lash and last two to three weeks with fills that run $80–$150 each. DIY lash extensions with clusters last up to 48 hours per application, cost a fraction of one fill, and you can change your style whenever you feel like it.
The trade-off is retention: clusters come off with an oil-based remover at the end of the weekend instead of living on your lashes for a month. For most people that is a feature — your natural lashes get a break between wears.
Cluster lashes vs strip lashes
Strip lashes are one continuous band you press on and remove the same night. Cluster lashes are placed in segments and, with a long-hold bond, stay put for up to 48 hours — closer to a real lash extension set.
Clusters also let you customize: short at the inner corner, long through the outer third, or full density all the way across. A strip gives you one fixed shape; clusters let you map the eye.
How to apply DIY lash extensions / lash clusters
Start on clean, dry lashes — no oils, no mascara. Coat your natural lash line with Super Sticky Lash Glue and wait 30 seconds for tack. Dip the base of each cluster in bond, then use the applicator to place it under your natural lashes, working outer corner to inner corner.
Space clusters about a lash-width apart so the set flexes with your eye. Mix lengths for a natural gradient — shorter clusters at the inner corner, longer through the middle and outer third. Pinch at the base once everything is placed, and let the bond cure for a full minute before touching your eyes.

Up to 48 hours per application with a quality bond, longer if you avoid oil cleansers, steam and rubbing your eyes. Sleep on your back or a silk pillowcase to keep the outer corners from lifting.
Remove with an oil-based cleanser or a dedicated bond remover, never by pulling. Clean the bond off the cluster base afterwards and the same clusters are ready to wear again.
